Real-time image processing by distributed arithmetic implementation of two-dimensional digital filters

چکیده
This paper describes the implementation of two-dimensional recursive digital filters for real-time image processing. The filter structure is described by distributed arithmetic and the operations involved are memory fetches and additions. An error analysis of the twodimensional filter structure described by distributed arithmetic is outlined and the expression for the mean-squared error is derived. This approach is compared to an equivalent conventional filter structure using multipliers. It is demonstrated that the distributed arithmetic implementation offers a significant reduction in cost as well as power consumption for real-time image processing. In addition, the hardware design of a second-order two-dimensional distributed filter is presented and its performance is examined. This filter is constructed using standard integrated circuits and memories and is capable of filtering images of sizes up to 256 X 256 pixels in real time.

متن کاملFast Adaptive Image Processing in FPGAs Using Stack Filters
Stack filters are a class of non-linear, digital filters whose behaviour is defined by Positive Boolean Functions rather than the multiply-accumulate, arithmetic operators that are widely used in conventional digital filters. The implementation of stack filters that can be adapted in real-time is feasible using dynamically reconfigurable FPGAs. This paper reports on efforts to map adaptive stac...

متن کاملImplementation of 2-D Discrete Wavelet Transform for Real-Time Video Signal Processing
This paper presents the architecture and implementation of a two-dimensional Discrete Wavelet Transform (2-D DWT) on a FPGA. This architecture works in a non-separable fashion using a parallel filter structure with distributed control to compute all the DWT resolution levels, so that the input sample can be processed at the rate of one sample per clock cycle. For the computation of an N × N sti...
